Rolling Pastures and Sweeping Meadows
Twelve miles east of downtown Dallas, between the cities of Mesquite and Garland, lies the quiet, little town of Sunnyvale, Texas. The town was formed in 1953 when four small villages in the area merged. Today, it is a beautiful community with a population of roughly 5,500 residents and a breathtaking view of Lake Ray Hubbard. Residents enjoy fishing, skiing, swimming, and boating on the lake.
While we’re on the subject of outdoor pleasures, it’s worth mentioning that Sunnyvale’s Parks Division works hard to provide its people with beautifully maintained recreational areas for the family to enjoy. There are four parks in total, including the popular Town Center Park located on Tripp Road, where there’s two full playgrounds, a water pond for residents to fish, two tennis courts, and a ¾-mile hiking/biking trail. As a town of strong faith, Sunnyvale includes eleven churches within the town limits.
Because of its location in the DFW metroplex, Sunnyvale provides easy access to downtown Dallas, with its many shops, restaurants, and entertainment opportunities. As well as, the Mesquite Rodeo only minutes away. For sports fans, Sunnyvale is in close travelling distance to just about any sporting event you can think of: Dallas Cowboys football, Texas Rangers baseball, and Dallas Mavericks basketball to name a few.
Children of Sunnyvale attend Sunnyvale Independent School District, which serves the community with an elementary school, a middle school, and a high school. Currently, there are about 1,200 students in the district and it has been rated Exemplary by the Texas Education Agency since 2009.
