Plano Independent School District is one of the top districts in the United States when it comes to college entrance exams. In fact, ninety-four percent of all graduates from Plano ISD end up continuing their studies immediately after high school. A big reason for this success is the structure of the district’s secondary schools. To better focus on the students’ needs and to have a more personal teacher-to-student relationship, PISD separates 9th/10th grade from 11th/12th grade with “high schools” and “senior high schools” and judging from the numbers, it really seems to work!
Plano Independent School District is made up of 72 campuses, educating around 55,000 students. Most of the students in the district are from the city of Plano, although PISD serves some of Dallas, Garland, Murphy, Wylie, Richardson, Allen, Carrollton, Lucas, and Parker as well. To get a better idea of the way the district is structured, here is a feeder list of all the schools that make up Plano ISD:
In addition, Plano Independent School District offers students an eSchool, allowing them to take courses online, in their own time. Also, there are a number of Early Childhood and Academy programs available to residents within the district.
