Just four miles from Lake Ray Hubbard is what locals know as the “Antique Capital of Texas.” The city of Forney is home to the famous Antique Trail, a strip mall along Highway 80. In addition to the Trail, the city hosts local concerts and events in Forney Community Park, which features a large ampitheater, basketball court, bike trail, sports complex, and a splash pad. If you’re hungry, there are a number of restaurants within the city, as well as the many establishments in downtown Dallas, which is only 20 minutes to the west. If Forney peaks your interest while searching for a new home, there are several cozy neighborhoods to search. Probably one of the most popular neighborhoods is the gorgeous community of Devonshire.
Devonshire is a master-planned community, inspired by the English countryside, that greets you with an impressive stone tower that sits on the shoreline of one of the many beautiful ponds. Devonshire is filled with a lush landscape and custom homes that set the tone for a rich style of architecture. Because of the friendly, welcoming atmosphere and the beautiful architecture and scenery, the residents of Devonshire are extremely proud to call the place home.
But that’s not all! Each year, Devonshire offers its residents a full schedule of group activities and events that unite neighbors and creates an extremely tight-knit community. Some of the events include the Devonshire Fall Festival, the Boo Bash, a Mother’s Day Tea Party, and the Red, White, and Blue Festival. There’s even an event for the resident doggies in the neighborhood. In October, in celebration of National Walk-Your-Dog Week, Devonshire hosts the Barking Bar, a walk-up bar full of their favorite toys & treats.
At the center of the subdivision stands the The Club at Devonshire, a clubhouse that provides residents with the perfect spot for neighborhood socializing and entertaining. At the Club, regular gatherings are scheduled, like the monthly Latte Lovers Club where residents are encouraged to bring a breakfast dish to share, while enjoying coffee and conversation with neighbors. Other Clubhouse events include the Wine& Dine Valentine Event and the kid-friendly Build-A-Bear Event. Outside of the Clubhouse is a large swimming pool, splash pool, and playground; a covered pavilion with a fireplace and grill; and an enormous events lawn, where residents enjoy a view of the beautiful downtown Dallas skyline.
Students in Devonshire are lucky to attend the top-rated schools of Forney Independent School District, all of which are located just a few minutes away. Forney ISD has been rated an “exemplary” district for many years and offers pre-graduates a number of Advanced Placement courses and opportunities to receive early college credits. Devonshire is served by Crosby Elementary School, Brown Middle School, and North Forney High School.
